My name is Rachel. I come from the coastal area of Whitley Bay. I am artist with a profound fascination for the intricacies of animal anatomy and a deep-rooted passion for showcasing the harmony of life and death through my art.
My keen interest in understanding how anatomy works in perfect concert, sparked creative exploration. Drawing inspiration from the graceful forms of red foxes and the ethereal beauty of birds, I use a unique blend of white paint markers and black pens to bring my subjects to life. My art is a celebration of the natural world's beauty, where every skeletal structure becomes a testament to the magic of life.
Take chances, make mistakes, and get messy!
My work is a realistic portrayal of the natural world's breathtaking allure. Through a keen eye for detail, I am inviting you to journey with me into the heart of nature, where life and death dance in perfect harmony, and the skeletal remains of creatures reveal the timeless elegance of the living world.
Art and Science Meet
My journey as an artist began during my childhood as soon as I could hold a pen, and grew as I embarked on captivating visits to the Natural History Museum with my Grandma, where the wonders of the animal kingdom ignited my imagination.
With a strong academic background, I hold a Master's degree in Museum Studies and a Bachelor of Arts in Digital Media and Illustration. This academic foundation enriches my artistic expressions, bringing together a profound knowledge of history and contemporary storytelling.
Reabled to work
In understanding my challenges and acceptance of deafness, partial blindness, autism, and ADHD, I have cultivated a unique perspective that fuels my passion for natural history and art. My determination to thrive in a society that might see these as disabilities has not only shaped my resilience but also enriched my ability to connect with the world in distinctive and meaningful ways. Through my business, I aim to showcase the beauty of diversity, both in nature and within ourselves, demonstrating that strength can emerge from what some may perceive as limitations.
Embracing my identity as a person with disabilities, I advocate for the right to work in an inclusive society. By establishing a business centered on a love for natural history, I not only pursue my passions but also contribute to the broader dialogue on disability rights. This venture serves as a testament to the capabilities of individuals like me, highlighting the importance of equal opportunities and challenging societal norms. Through my work, I aim to inspire a shift towards a more inclusive environment where everyone, regardless of their abilities, has the right to meaningful employment and the chance to contribute their unique talents.
